Synopsis Visual anthropology uses the camera as its principal instrument of investigation for the study of mankind. This camera may produce still or moving images, ranging from photography to ethnographic filmmaking, from products of X-ray technology to motion pictures and television. At the global level there has been significant progress in the technology of visual anthropology; and it is vital that anthropology in India keep abreast with these international developments.
