CONSERVATION OF ART is an amalgamation of heritage and material science. Heritage can manifest itself in many forms - built, art, natural, craft, literary, material, intangible and the cultural. Of these conservation of art heritage is particularly important as it involves strict ethical issues demanding reversibility of treatments, highly skilled work and complicated decision making. THE ASIAN REGIONAL COOPERATION CONFERENCE addressed many issues related to the conservation of art - community participation, society’s stake in taking conservation decisions, problems related of funding and evaluating conservation projects, conservation training and education, challenges in conservation in the changing world and need for specialization.
