Synopsis Set predominantly in rural Karnataka,, Crossing Over is a gripping and passionate novel which centers on Satyabhama, the quiet and independent daughter of a Brahmin priest. When she announces her intention of marrying a man of lower caste Srinivasa, it precipitates a course of events which stresses the nature and extent of social and intercaste conflict in India.
