Corbett Tiger Reserve enjoys the status of being the 1st National park of India. It also enjoys the status of having the highest number of tigers in India. It contains one of the finest habitat for large prey and predators in India. However the buffer zone of the Corbett Tiger Reserve as well as its adjoining reserve forest has large number of human settlements and the human population has dependence on rural resources of the Corbett tiger Reserve. This book examines the issues related to protected area-people relationships in detail, makes an objective assessment of prey species and prevailing habitat conditions and critically examines the large scale cattle depredation which takes place year after year and its overall implication for conservation of tigers as well as other biodiversity values.
