Amnesty International and Its Neo-Colonial Mission

Synopsis Amnesty International was born as a European liberals’ response to decolonization. The same liberals, who never directed their wrath against the perpetrators of crimes against humanity for five hundred years, suddenly began to show their deep concern about human rights in the newly liberated Third World countries. The First World never found it necessary to focus on the widespread abuses of human rights in its own backyard. It completely disregarded the role played by the western imperialism in precipitating human rights violations by supporting and financing the repressive regimes. Amnesty International remained deafeningly silent on imperialism—the most blatent violator of human rights for centuries. Amnesty International acts as the psychological warfare unit of imperialism. Its criticism of the Third World is simply to mask the continuing depredation of imperialism. Present work is a dispassionate study of these secular missionaries of modern times in the service of the First World.
