Huge size of population and its very fast growth rate, wide spread and concentrated poverty, increasing interpersonal and regional disparities, informalisation and casualisation of employment opportunities, grossly under developed manufacturing sector and emerging market economy churn out an interesting and unique phenomenon. The role of manufacturing sector in poverty alleviation among its various other vital contributions has been envisaged to be very critical.
