Calcutta is a place Where People of all religions live together in peaceful co-existance.The Muslims in Calcutta forms the second largest religions community beside Hindus.with the growth of the city muslim population has increased rapidly. Mosques(Masjids), Imambaras, Mazars of Muslim saints came up in multitudes. The majority of the Mosques were built betwen 1910 to 1940. A study of selected Mosques and Imambaras in Calcutta has its own history and plays an important role in our social and cultural development of our city.  The islamic Architectural Heritage in India and Indo-Islamic structures spread across whole of India.
