The Tribal Communities constitute 8.6% of the total Population of India. They are distinct ethnic group having their own indigenous identity. Tribes are undergoing several changes in various spheres of life on account of the contact with the Caste Hindus and people of mainstream society. We may classify tribes in India as tribes and Scheduled tribes scholarly Studies and research on tribal communities in India are generally confined to scheduled tribes.
