The book entitled “Accelerating Agricultural Growth in India” is a combination of invited paper which throws a light on the different aspects of Indian agriculture. In all, nearly 29 papers were selected from the eminent scholars listed in the contributors’ index. It analyse the different aspects, like agricultural production and cropping pattern, changing food habits, agricultural marketing, agricultural credit, sectoral production performance, impact of environment and disaster management and crop insurance and impact of groundwater and tank irrigation on agricultural production. All papers deals with the main factors responsible for agricultural development in India along with a fresh approach to agricultural policy and contain all possible suggestions for accelerating agricultural growth in India.The attempt has been made to focus attention on the problems and to point out with the help of facts and figures. The broad principles which should form the basis for future plans for the agricultural development of the country and depict in broad outline. The direction in which future agro-economic development should take place and the emphasis to be held on priorities to be observed and the methods to be adopted in planning and executing a programme of agricultural expansion. This book will serve some useful purpose by providing a basis for analytical evaluation of the schemes for recognition and rationalisation of our agricultural industry by suggesting more effective ways and means of making rapid economic progress.
