Synopsis The education for all 2000 assessment is the most in-depth evaluation of basic education ever undertaken on a global scale. It takes stock of the current status of education in each country and evaluates the progress that has been achieved during 1990s since the World Conference on Education For All, Jomtein, March 1990. Since July 1998, some 180 countries have undertaken the assessment and the national assessment teams have prepared country reports outlining the progress towards education for all as well as pinpointing shortcoming towards that goal since 1990 in each country. This book offers a first insight into the quantitative data collected through this assessment, at global, regional and national levels. It provides an overview of the core education for all indicators, supported by tables and graphs of statistics on education for the eleven EFA regions. It also presents a decade of education in key areas.
