Transnational feminism is a response to the global feminism that locates women’s positioning from a global perspective. In literature it include works on the transnational engagements of people who remain in the home country, migrate to another, intersect with the political and social factors that has its impact on gender, class and race both in host and home countries. This literature explores how the crossing of boundaries, real and conceptual, affects personal and overarching histories- national, ethnic and cultural identities by examining how powers of colonialism, modernity, post-modernity and globalization construct gender norms among the subaltern, the Third World, and the colonized. The presentation of female experiences in works of authors from South Asia and beyond explore diverse and unavoidable themes of migration, diaspora, national and religious interventions and patriarchal oppression that are fundamental in shaping women’s lives. Their writings, inspired by a global network of influences reaches audiences throughout the world, enabling constant and pervasive interaction. This book adopts the transnational lens in examining differences in culture and female experiences in home and host countries.
