he origin of the All India Oriental Conference goes back to the year 1911 in which sir Harcourt Butler called a meeting of Orientologists at Simla to discuss the proposal of holding an Oriental Conference in India on the model of the International Congress of Orientologists, the first session of which was held in 1873. It is indeed our great pleasure to present to the fraternity of scholars of Orientology this volume of speeches by General Presidents delivered during the last 50 sessions of All India Oriental Conference. This compendium embodies a priceless document of the history of the onward march and Oriental studies spanning a period of Hundred years.
