Synopsis The volume contains 24 papers contributed by 32 well-known authors to an International Seminar on "Indian Ocean in the 21 Century : Linkages and Networking" organised by the Society for Indian Ocean Studies in the year 1998. The volume addresses 24 diverse themes grouped under four sessions and these form a valuable addition to our knowledge about the Indian Ocean.
