Synopsis The present book entitled Land Reform and Rural Development in the State of West Bengal is the out come of author’s independent research project. The Ministry of Rural Development, Govt. of India during the period 1998-1999, sponsored the project. The detail field investigation was carried out in the 5 districts of West Bengal. Regarding post land reforms, views of pattaholders, panchayat functionaries and govt. officials have been reflected in the book very critically. Various socio-economic, administrative and legislative issues were discussed in this book in the context of land reform programmes. Finally a set of policy recommendations was made by the author to make this programme a success one. This type of field experience on the subject like land reforms no doubt on one side will be immense helpful for other state administrators of different state who are in the process of implementing the land reforms programmes and on the other this book will be acceptable by the readers who are too concerned about land reform programmes.
