Synopsis Poverty Reduction in Developing Countries is of overwhelming concern in the development agendas of the countries of Asia and Africa and has attracted public intervention to alleviate poverty. Studies in this volume include five countries from Africa, viz., Botswana, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya and Tanzania and three from Asia, viz., India, Malaysia and Sri Lanka. They cover a set of themes to explain poverty reduction process in their respective areas, including the causes of poverty, rate and composition of economic growth, macro-economic policies, design of the poverty reduction programmes and a critical review of their implementation.
