Synopsis Manipur is a tiny state but strategically important since it is bordered by various South-East Asian countries. Much of the area of Manipur belongs to the hills which are inhabited by various tribes commonly known as Nagas and the Chin-Kuki groups. Their cultural customary laws including that of land are sharply different and this often leads to ethnic crisis and land disputes.
