Geoheritage has been a neglected feature in the conservation landscape of India. Geological Survey of India identified 26 Geological sites over the years as National Geological Monuments. INTACH started a Geoheritage Initiative with a survey to assess the condition of these national geo-monuments, their threats and vulnerabilities, with recommendations to improve their upkeep by incorporating a geo-tourism revenue stream
