Twist of Truth
Synopsis
The novel is a mix of political, historical, and philosophical fiction. It broadly deals with a current political issue: terrorism and violence. The narrative is told through the subjectivity of one who is known as a "militant." The writer explores how it feels to be hated and to be feared and to be rejected as the violence-makers are. This is neither a critique of the insurgent movement in which the novel’s protagonist is involved nor does it reflect any sympathies with terrorism. The writer is interested in perceiving its human smell and color and thought, and in the process, examining and raising some issues about violence. The novel tries to explore the relationship between one’s religious convictions and one’s sense of social responsibility and the gap between the two. The broad vision of the novel is, hence, primarily philosophical.
