Synopsis This book 'Information and Communication' is the eighth volume in the series on the UGC Model Curriculum of the author for the two year M.LISc. Programme. This Volume Comprehends the following areas: Information and communication in libraries; Information science and its scope; Changing role of libraries and information centers in the society resulting in what is called ‘information society’; Intellectual property rights, right to information, censorship, fair use and related legislation; Information polices and programmes-national and international; Economics and marketing of information; Information management; and knowledge management. To assist both the teachers and students a topical outline of the chapter content is given at the beginning as ‘synopsis’. This will also help the students to refresh their knowledge before the examination. At the end of the chapter, questions are given for discussion and preparation under the head ‘assignment’.
