Synopsis Secularism is one of the main theme in contemporary discourse. But most often there is vehemence and intolerance surrounding the discussion. In such charged atmosphere the author is sympathetic without being partisan to the cause she is arguing for. Such a level of discussion is particularly desirable in the halo of academe where the importance of secular values in our educational system can hardly be overestimated. In fact, there is growing awareness among our educational and political thinkers as to how such values can be imparted to the young and formative minds right from the nursery up to the fully grown campuses.
