This book is an attempt to emphasize the most fundamental philosophical question about the death and its mysterious and ritualistic nature of disposal of the dead. This work has been compiled and edited in four parts – conceptual ritualism, Occidental ritualism, Oriental ritualism, and Semitic ritualism. First part deals with the conceptual philosophy of death, ritualistic practices of disposal of the dead, and purificatory rites of the survivors; while second, third and fourth part throws light on the ritualistic practices of death and disposal of the dead among European communities like Greek, roman, Slavic, Coptic and Christian; Oriental communities like animistic, Hindu, Jain, Buddhist, Chinese, Japanese and Tibetan; and Semitic communities like Babylonian, Egyptian, Jewish, Parsi, and Muslim respectively. The task performed here would be useful to the scholars interested in mysterious and ritualistic philosophy.
