Synopsis This textbook is intended to fill a dual role. First, it should be useful as a manual along with the upper division college course in social studies for the secondary school; second, it could serve some of the needs of social studies teachers in service, as a reference to current curricular practices, recent materials and as an attempt to make a whole pattern out of the welter of human experience.
