Synopsis This ambitious project has been formulated by the Asiatic Society to initiate steps towards forging Asian unity, no matter how much ephemeral might that be at the given point of time. The 2-vol. work on Asian Countries is projected to deal with the Land and People in vol. 1 and Language and Literature in vol. 2. The expert articles in vol. 1 highlight country profiles incorporating information on four major areas like a) Land, Population, and Economy; b) Social Structure; c) Environmental Distinctions and Human Responses; and d) Transport, Communication System, Places of Interest, Tourism. Over and above, this volume incorporates information on selected Special Social Groups. For vol. 2, dealing with Language and Literature, the editors have formulated to adopt a thematic approach and present write-ups on different ideas and themes.
