Synopsis Though most of the academic trends started in western work of sports, yet Punjabi University, Patiala has took the lead in introducing “Psycho-social Aspects of Sports” as a separate subject for postgraduate student I physical education. Hence the need was felt to have a text book covering the whole syllabus for the convenience of the students. Present book is the outcome of my teaching and interactions with athletes and experts of Sports Authority of India, Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports, Patial. Group effectiveness, group cohesion, social facilitation, adjustment, competition, cooperation, values etc., are the topics having direct impact on outcome both in co-acting and inter-acting groups. These variables have been referred by most of sports psychologists in their books due to their significance in competitive sports.
