Synopsis This book contains articles on the role of the Indian Judiciary written by a number of eminent and knowledgeable judges, jurists, lawyers, journalists, parliamentarians, diplomats, scholars, academicians and civil servants. In this study for the first time an attempt has been made to highlight the judiciary’s role noticed from different perspectives. Some of the authors have been constructively critical of the judiciary’s role. In a democracy like India this is a healthy phenomenon so long as the tone of the criticism remains respectful and this acts as a beacon light for those who are being criticized. The judiciary requires to trim itself and move faster to maintain its pre-eminent position. The book should be of interest to judges, jurists, lawyers, and policy makers.
