Synopsis Nepal is the closest neighbouring country of India. Despite vast differences in size, resources, population, capabilities and levels of development there are several factors which have made their relationship cooperative as well as conflictual. The geographical and sociocultural and religious proximities, close economic interlinkages and Nepal's excessive economic dependence upon India primarily due to its landlocked nature, Nepal's strategic importance in the Himalayas, etc., have influenced their relations and made them intimate and unique. But this closeness has often been misperceived in order to secure vested Political interests. This has often resulted in a strained relations between the two countries by ignoring the mutuality of interests in forging closer cooperation. This volume deals with the areas and dimensions of inter-dependent relations between the two countries in order to establish the fact that the destiny has put the two countries together and has to be used for mutual benefits and not to be misused for the enhancement of vested interests.
