Synopsis The present volume examines the various aspects of ongoing process of empowerment of women in the country, drawing experiences from different states. Analysing the role of women in decentralisation, it addresses a variety of issues concerning political empowerment of women at grassroots level, decentralisation of child care service, emerging patterns of rural women leadership and gender needs. The contributions of self-help groups have also been assessed.
