Synopsis Economic Theories and Empirical Issues is a collection of 25 addresses delivered by the Conference Presidents of the Bangiya Arthaniti Parishad (Bengal Economic association) during its first 25 Annual Conferences (1981-2005). These addresses cover varied areas consisting of both theoretical thoughts and empirical issues that confronted in this period, which are not only regional in character pertaining to West Bengal only but also are national and global in many cases. One can get an idea how leading economists from West Bengal expressed their thoughts over this period covering quarter of a century. An introduction to these 25 addresses is hereby given in their chronological order in the following paragraphs from which the reader may obtain a birds' eye view of their contents.
