Synopsis Higher Education has now been brought under WTO as a trade in Education Services. India is yet to become a signatory of GATES (General Agreement on Trade in Education Services). Even then, in the last ten years, we have witnessed the impact of trade and commerce impinging higher education. Higher education is now truly in a free market. All these changes within the country and globally, have had an unsettling effect on Indian higher education. But there is no systematic effort to discuss and draw strategies for coping with inexorable changes. Foreword to the book has been written by Padmabhushan Dr. R.A. Mashelkar. The book begins with a contemplative view on higher education in market economy and the new players in higher education. The author calls educational entrepreneurs to action, and hopes that a new breed of innovative educational consultants will assist the educational entrepreneurs in transforming higher education.
