Synopsis Women constitute about half of the Indian population and play a significant role both as housewife and as workers. Despite this their contribution to economy is paid little attention. Thus to recognize and quantify women’s contribution to economy and to strengthen their position in the context of future challenges is a key issue. The present book is an attempt to assess the overall development of women in India. It measures the relative levels of social and economic well being of women with the help of relativity index.
