Synopsis Jaina Karmology is the English Translation of the 8th Chapter of Tattvartha-Raja-Vartika, an exhaustive commentary by Bhatta Akalanka on the first Sanskrit aphorismic sacred text Tattvartha-Sutra of Umasvati (mi). This very chapter deals with the karma theory, one of the most important theories of Jaina philosophy. It gives an account of the soul or the amalgamation of the Karmic matter with the imperfect soul. Its English Translation was long awaited. Dr. N.L. Jain, the translator, has not only rendered the text into English but has presented its critical evaluation on the basis of other commentaries available on Tattvartha-sutra.
