International Politics: Theory and Practice

Synopsis International Politics as we understand it today is different from International Relations, International Affairs, World Affairs or World Politics. During the course of our study in this work we have tried to bring out distinctions between these various disciplines. It would be in the interest of a clear insight into the study of International Politics that we realize its basic nature. International Politics is fundamentally a conceptual study of Politics among Nations. It takes note of the history of international relations and the contemporary struggle for power that goes on among nations, but it does not endeavour to present a detailed and chronological study of international relations and affairs. It merely uses them as primary date. The term International Politics has two distinct connotations: (i) International Politics as politics among nations in its actual and day-to-day operation, and (ii) International Politics as a discipline and study in all its aspects and ramification – nature, scope, development and theories.
