Hindu Women and Their Rights

Synopsis Since the days of yore, the Hindu women were deprived of the fundamental rights. If we brouse through the pages of history, we come through several aspects of their socio-economic life which was greatly confined to the cramped domestic environments. Thus there contribution in the developmental schemes of society was fairly limited. But there were a few exceptions with the active role of social reformers, particularly in the last two centuries, the scenario was changed and we find a great change for the benefit of the women folk. The theme has been weaved into nine chapters and they have deep bearing on the caste system, the historical perspective, law of partition the sense of re-union, women’s property, partition of concealed property and exclusion from inheritance. Indeed they were confined to the domestic environments and on account of their dependence on male members of the family, their socio-economic condition remained weak in several ways. But with the passage of time, when they gained confidence, they could claim the basic rights by which they made their life much better than before.
