Synopsis There appears to be general agreement that courses in chemistry should be restructured in such a way as to present interdisciplinary principles of chemistry. This interdisciplinary approach is essential in presenting chemistry to beginners. The traditional structure of physical, organic, inorganic and analytical chemistry has origins in the main activities of chemists in the past, but continues to determine how chemistry is taught. Chemistry has developed into an applied science and people trained as chemists are making significant contributions in areas which overlap strongly with physics, biology as well as earth and material sciences. The need for formulating proper chemistry curriculum suited to college students in this country was recognized by scientific community.
