Synopsis This book is chronicle of the steps that have been visualized and initiated by the Government of India in the recent years. It is a compilation and collation of the information made available by numerous agencies like National Institutions, Planning Commission, prominent NGOs working in the disability sector, Ministries of Health and Family Welfare and Human Resource Development. On certain occasion, it has been felt at various levels in the government and outside that adequate efforts have not been made at least to document the achievements that we have made as a society in our march towards modernity. Taking stock of our actions will enable us to know where we stand today. This book tries to highlight the enactments, policy formulation and follow up steps that have been taken by various legislations enacted from time to time in the field of medical, educational vocational, psychosocial and attitudinal rehabilitation and integration of persons with disabilities with in the society.
