Synopsis Delhi Municipal Corporation is the largest municipal corporation of the world. It is expected to perform its obligations to meet the present and future challenges for providing various services to the citizens of the capital city as per international standards. The evolution of city governance is currently in the process of adopting radical changes in the field of financial management, e-governance and providing honest and efficient staff for improved quality of services to the citizens. Transport and honest governance, reasonable but wide spread tax base and smaller but efficient units of municipal corporations can meet the challenges of rapidly growing city. The present book is a humble endeavour to reflect the current approach to city governance. It combines conceptual thrust, both (historical and contemporary) to local governance with new dimensions and ideas to meet the ever increasing obligations of local governments.
