Synopsis EDUSAT is an important promise in the life of Indian nation. Conceptualized sometime in 2001 or earlier in ISRO, it surfaced in 2002 with the document Educating the nation: the Need for a Dedicated Satellite, authorship credited to Prof. Mukhopadhyay. EDUSAT was launched on 20th Century September 2004, four months ahead of schedule. The ground network is yet to be ready, and hence utilization of EDUSAT is still and open question. They story is woven around precursors to EDUSAT, concept of EDUSAT, development so far, major issues, and lessons for management. Author has been involved in designing satellite based education in the NTIONAL Action Plan even before EDUSAT, and at all stages of development of EDUSAT. There is no better person who can authentically narrate the story of EDUSAT It needs to be read to understand the complexity of technology, pedagogy, human dynamics and management.
