Synopsis Delhi Police has played a very significant role in Indian history. Surprisingly, there have been few efforts, if any, to recount this significant historical role. We owe it to the vision of Dr. K.K. Paul, who drew our attention to the lack of authentic record on the history and heritage of Delhi Police. He conceived this work. He put us on the job and guided us at every step of the way. To begin with, there was no systematic compilation of written records. However, once the work gathered momentum we came across rich material, object, weapons, legends, documents and accounts of chroniclers to put together this story. What goes by the name of :historical relics” has proved to be a rich quarry from which much of the material used to raise our edifice is hewed.
