The book examines the educational scenario in India: aspects of schooling, motivation for education, parenting, personality development, promoting creativity, teaching strategies and educational reforms. Referring to views of teacher, scientists, writers and philosophers over time on essential attitudes, habits and behaviour in life and education, it looks into the important role of teachers in imparting education and inculcating right attitudes in students. Highlighting the fall in values in society and in education in particular in the present day, it points out shortcomings in today''s educational system like the over-importance given to the examination system and learning having become a tedious process.

Dr Dandapani has received national awards from the NCERT under the Research Seminar Readings Programme on four occasions.
