Synopsis The present volume contains forty three contributed articles on ‘Tribal ecology and sustainable development in India presented at the UGC National seminar organized at Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati. These papers have been grouped under the five categories, i.e. (1) Ecology and Tribal Life, (2) Forest Policy and Tribal Development, (3) Ethno-medicine and Health care practices, (4) General Issues related to Tribal Ecology and (5) Ecology: Biocultural Dimensions. The views expressed by the contributors are of great significance in the national interest in suggesting the various measures and alternative strategies for tribal development in the light of socio-economic and cultural attitudes and constraints, in the back drop of ecology of the Indian tribes.
