Synopsis This book is an attempt to remember our venerable ancestors and their ideas; those stalwarts who walked taller by a few fingers. It would be immature to say that only those remembered here in this book have contributed to Indian cultural tradition. These are just a few of the names from the legion of our unforgettable ancestors. Due to limitations of effort and understanding, only a few of the names are symbolically included. This process of compilation can be expanded and in reality it should be continued. This volume is divided into two parts. The first part carries a depiction of the symbols of our culture. The second is a remembrance of some great names that have shaped our cultural consciousness. Our dedication goes to all those seers who have made as their own each page of this volume and those who have sung the praise while being part of our endeavour.
