Synopsis Explorations in the Deccan History is a collection of research articles of Professor A.R. Kulkarni presented in various seminars and conferences. It emphasizes the relevance of History of the Deccan in the relevance of History of the deccan in modern times by bringing out the socio-economic and cultural aspects of the four major components of the Deccan, viz., Maharashtra, Goa Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. It deals with, for instance, the role of the Marathas in history, the composite culture of medieval Maharastra, the hukumnama or the administration of Tipu Sultan, the Cult of Bhakti, the contribution of Portuguese to Marathi literature, monetary system of the Marathas, the water system, the Maratha policy towards Adilashahi and a few more issues of medieval times.
