Synopsis This book examines the issues related to human rights of Dalits in the context of changes in the socio-economic structure of the country. While analysing the atrocities perpetrated on the Dalits, it also discusses their aspirations and achievements during the last five decades of Independence. The volume also deals with the status of scavengers--the most neglected and deprived section among the Dalits--in various states of India namely Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Bihar, Karnataka and Gujarat. It especially examines the issues related to liberation and rehabilitation of scavengers in different parts of the country.
