The term Biodiversity is a recent international buzz word and is defined as the variety and variability among living organisms and the ecological complexes in which they occur. On the basis of richness of biological diversity, India is declared as one of the sixteen mega diversity countries of the world. The richness of biodiversity in India is largely due to geographical position and the fact that it possess all possible kinds of ecosystems namely mountains, valleys, rivers, lakes, oceans and islands.
