Synopsis During the last thirty years or so a wave of the environmental consciousness and concern is being developed in India and other countries. This work is an effort to keep pace with the continuing rapid developments in all areas of environment. It includes different types of environmental pollutions such as air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution, thermal pollution, radiation pollution, land pollution, etc. Each topic covers the scientific discussion of each type of pollution, its adverse effects on the man and on environment and suggests many methods of its control. Each topic has been written, edited and compiled by a team of world renowned scientists. Historical and current statistics have been included mainly from Indian, Japanese, Canadian and American experiences in order to show the progress that has been made in the recent past in overcoming different types of pollution hazards.
This work will be of immense value to the students and teachers of environment and to scientists and engineers working on pollution problems besides the doctors, dentists, technicians, and nuclear plant designers.
