Synopsis Within sight of the great fort of Tughlakabad in the south of Dilli (Delhi) city live a family of dogs and a family of pigs. The adults will have nothing to do with each other but a chance meeting brings a puppy and a piglet together. The dog pack leaves the area to find a cooler home in the hot Dilli summer. Their journey is full of excitement as they meet the Jungli Billi (cat) and the stately Gai (cow) among other animals and birds. By a strange coincidence, that nearly ends in disaster, Aseem the Puppy and Kallia the Piglet meet up again and the Piglet joins the dog pack. In the shady groves of the Gulmohar Nursery they explore their new world together, with the cautious company of the Jungli Billi, and share encounters with snake and mongooes, kites and kingfishers. Many of the feral, and some of the wild, animals of Dilli make appearances in these first ten stories of the adventures of Aseem and Kaalia. Each page is illustrated in colour with evocative and accurate painting of the events that the pair pass through.
