Synopsis Bal Gangadhar Tilak was born in Ratnagiri on 23 July, 1856. He lived for 64 years. Every year of his life was a milestone of achievements. He was a Sanskrit scholar, famous teacher and social reformer. His slogan "Swaraj is My Birth Right", inspired millions of Indians during struggle for freedom.  Studying life and works of great men enables the reader to know the circumstances, need and qualities that shaped the life of these men to attain the status of being great.
