Synopsis In this volume the author traces the development of Vedic literature from the Rgveda to the Vedangas, explains the inter-relationship of different Vedic works, and enlightens the reader on the excellence of Vedic poetry which is embellished by perfect metrical skill, polished language, elegant style, and metaphors. It has been amply demonstrated in this work with suitable illustrations that if the metaphorical meaning of Vedic expressions is overlooked, their literal translation results in sheer absurdity. The teachings of the Veda and the Upanisads have been lucidly presented in this volume. The author profusely quotes Vedic verses to explain that the Veda poetically glorifies the infinite under the significant appellation of Aditi meaning "unbounded in time, space, light, energy, wisdom, etc.", and describes Aditi as the mother, i.e., the fountain-head of all the divine powers designated as Indra, Agni, Visnu, Varuna, Savitr, Rudra, Maruts, etc., in accordance with their nature and functions.
