Synopsis The present work is a complete study of the Delhi Iron Pillar, also known as the Meharauli pillar, and the inscription of King Chandra engraved on it. The Delhi Iron Pillar is metallurgically unique and a fine specimen of Gupta art while the problem of the identity of King Chandra eulogised in its record is one of the most intriguing and baffling problems of ancient Indian history. This work, therefore, seeks to present the views of the cream of indologists and experts on all the problems connected with history, art, metallurgy and epigraphy of the Delhi pillar at one place. It is bound to be indispensable for the researches and other historians alike.
