Synopsis This is the Thirteenth and Penultimate Volume of the series cross-Currents of Indian History and Culture. The series started with a survey of prehistoric India and is ending with the dawn of a new millennium marking the rise of India as a major world power during its long and checkered journey. India has successfully endured the rise and fall of hundreds of dynasties and has withstood the test of time. The present Volume recalls the major milestones in India’s development since the beginning of 1998 and closes at the end of December 2003. it has been divided into three sections: (1) Beyond the Golden Jubilee of Freedom; (2) The Beginning of the New Millennium; and finally (3) Advent of Globalization. While section One covers the period of 2 years: 1998 and 1999, Section Two is devoted to the major events of 3 years, viz. 2000, 2001 and 2002. Section Three Presents a survey of national land-marks of the year 2003.
